Magic is a mystical power used in many fantasy stories.
Appearance
Magic appears as a small, sparkling ball of pale yellow energy.
From Scribblenauts Unlimited onward, it has no visible sprite, but it generates a swirling magic particle effect whenever it moves. This makes it appear as a swirling ball of magic while in motion, but the lack of a sprite can still be seen when it is selected or summoned by the player.
Most other forms of magic, including black magic and fairy magic, use a recolored version of the magic sprite and/or particle effect from their respective games.
Spawning
Magic, unlike most of the other forms of magic, can be summoned through the notebook by normal means in every Scribblenauts game.
If the player has the adjective “magical”, they can fire magic as a projectile by selecting an attackable object and choosing the “Cast Magic” option. Objects with the “magical” adjective attack in the same way when provoked. Spell books also shoot magic projectiles.
Behavior
Scribblenauts
Magic disappears when it makes contact with a surface. If it makes contact with an object, the object is trapped in an ice block.
Super Scribblenauts onward
Magic now has an entirely different effect. When magic makes contact with an object, the object is turned into a different object. The object’s new form is determined by its original form.
- People turn into bunnies.
- Non-human creatures, including inanimate objects given sentience, turn into doves.
- Inanimate objects (that are not sentient) turn into bouquets.
- The player does not transform, instead gaining the “magical” adjective.
Trivia
- In Scribblenauts Unlimited, it is considered a type of ball, as evidenced by the appearance of various forms of sporting equipment in the Similar Words tab.
