The @Yarn End is an object in Scribblenauts Unlimited that can be spawned by Brandon Godfrey, or can be spawned by the player by using the "@" Method glitch in Scribblenauts Unlimited or Scribblenauts Unmasked. It periodically spawns 5th Cell members.
Despite being the @Yarn End being officially introduced at the same time as the other Mario series items and resembling a ? Block, it is not considered one of them, and can be found in Non-Nintendo versions of Scribblenauts Unlimited and Scribblenauts Unmasked.
The @Yarn End also still exists in the Scribblenauts Mega Pack, where it can be created using the "@" Method when using Touch Mode in the Nintendo Switch version of Scribblenauts Unlimited. Significantly, it can allow players to access several of the previous 5th Cell members that had been removed by Shiver Entertainment.
Appearance
The @Yarn End appears as a crate with a black question mark on it, appearing somewhat similar to the ? Blocks of the Super Mario series.
A sprite for this same crate was found unused in the files of the original Scribblenauts. The reason for this and the connection it has to the @Yarn End is unknown. One possibility is that the original crate was used as a placeholder sprite during the development of Scribblenauts, and Brandon Godfrey may spawn the @Yarn End as a form of callback to this. (Though it's sprite in Scribblenauts Unlimited is now intentional, as Unlimited instead uses a gift box as a placeholder.)
Behavior
Every few seconds the @Yarn End will spawn either a random 5th Cell developer or a Running Mushroom. It will also spawn something whenever it is interacted with.
Notably, it cannot spawn any 5th Cell members, and instead only pulls from this list of 36, which is the same as the player spawning "You".

Mega Pack
The @Yarn End also still exists in the Scribblenauts Mega Pack, where it can be created using the "@" Method when using Touch Mode in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. This appearance is noteworthy as the Mega Pack was developed by Shiver Entertainment instead of 5th Cell, and as such 5th Cell members can no longer be spawned by the player.
Despite this, the @Yarn End is still able to spawn the same 36 5th Cell members it could previously, which was likely overlooked by the Mega Pack's new developers. This is the only known way to spawn any of the previous 5th Cell members in Unlimited.
5th Cell Members spawned in this version have no name by default, but still have the same appearance, genderbent design, and unique functionalities as previous versions. (such as Brian Firfer rapidly spawning protest signs near Brett Caird) Additionally, the Self Glorification! Object Shard can still be cleared with these 5th Cell developers in the Mega Pack, even though it has been changed to instead accept a generic Game Developer.
Trivia
- Despite the @Yarn End's first official appearance resembling a Mario series ? Block, and it's inclusion aligning with the Nintendo Guest Objects, it was likely never intended to be one of them due to how early the sprite was created.
